Neurally mediated syncope is due to:

  • excessive parasympathetic tone
  • sympathetic suppression

The cardiovascular results of this disorder are:

  • bradycardia
  • hypotension
  • peripheral pooling of blood

The diagnosis of the neurally mediated syncope has been facilitated by the use of the tilt-table test.
