Investigation
Exclude other causes of presentation, e.g. myocardial infarction, pericardial effusion. In some cases viral serology may be of assistance.
- ECG: exclusion of MI; identification of arrhythmias
- CXR: cardiomegaly, LVF
- echocardiography: exclusion of pericardial effusion and mitral stenosis
- serology: for viral infection or connective disease disease
