Classification of aneurysms by shape
There are two basic conformations in which aneurysms occur:
- saccular
- fusiform
To these two basic conformations may be added dissecting aneurysms. A dissecting aneurysm is a state in which there is a longitudinal splitting of the aortic wall with the plane of cleavage being filled with blood.
