Disopyramide
Disopyramide is:
- a class IA antiarrhythmic drug and as such is effective against atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
- is often used to control ventricular arrhythmias post myocardial infarction
- moderately arrhythmogenic
- is negatively inotropic and so must be used with caution in patients with heart failure
Disopyramide may have anti-cholinergic side-effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision and urinary retention.
