These include:
- reduced cellular uptake of glucose
- reduced utilization of glucose
- increased gluconeogenesis in liver
- increased glycogenesis, possibly due to increased insulin secretion
Ultimately, they are diabetogenic - there is an increased tendency to hyperglycaemia.
