Prognosis
- focal lesions are compatible with a normal life
- diffuse involvement may result in cardiac failure
- in infants cardiac decompensation may be fulminant
- in older children and adults there is a course of months or years resulting in death from chronic cardiac failure or thromboembolic disease
- the condition may respond well to digoxin
