Investigations
Investigations should include:
- blood culture, viral titres, ASOT, throat swab (diphtheria), cardiac enzymes (raised CK)
- CXR
- echocardiography, which will reveal reduced ejection fraction in a dilated heart
- ECG, which is characterized by low voltages, arrhythmias, and myocardial injury represented by Q waves
