Authoring team

Investigations should include:

  • blood culture, viral titres, ASOT, throat swab (diphtheria), cardiac enzymes (raised CK)
  • CXR
  • echocardiography, which will reveal reduced ejection fraction in a dilated heart
  • ECG, which is characterized by low voltages, arrhythmias, and myocardial injury represented by Q waves
