Management
The management of stroke consists of:
- diagnosis - the National Service Framework for older people states that all patients with an acute stroke require urgent admission to hospital
- determination of risk factors for stroke
- supportive care for the majority of acute patients
- acute interventions in a few patients
- prevention of complications
- secondary prevention
- rehabilitation
