Sotalol should not be used in the following circumstances:

  • sick sinus syndrome
  • second and third degree AV heart block
  • long QT interval (congenital or acquired)
  • torsade de pointes
  • symptomatic sinus bradycardia
  • uncontrolled congestive cardiac failure
  • cardiogenic shock
  • Raynaud's phenomenon
