Possible causes of baldness in children include:
- trauma:
- the most common cause of baldness
- the hair is variable in length
- alopecia areata - bald area completely devoid of hair
- tinea capitis:
- patchy, scaly alopecia
- siblings may be affected
- aplasia cutis and other naevoid abnormalities
