Vesicular appearance and pruritus of DH may result in misdiagnosis of the condition. It may be mistaken for more common dermatological conditions:
- in children
- scabies
- atopic eczema
- papular urticaria
- impetigo
- in adults
- contact eczema
- other autoimmune blistering diseases - especially IgA linear disease and bullous pemphigoid
- nodular prurigo
- urticaria
- polymorphic erythema
