  • mild to moderate topical steroid in a greasy base can be used until the skin improves - but care since underlying skin is usually fragile
  • avoid excessive washing particularly with soaps and detergents using soap substitutes such as: - emulsifying ointment - aqueous cream
  • bland emollients will often stop it recurring
  • topical pimecrolimus gives good results (1)
