Investigations
The key investigations for suspected intramedullary tumours include:
- MRI - investigation of choice - permits clear differentiation from syringomyelia, and enables identification of the extent of the lesion, and associated cysts
- plain X-ray - may show widening of interpedicular distance
- myelography - confirms presence of intramedullary lesion
