Petechiae due to small vessel disease
Some causes of petechial bleeding from small vessels:
- infection - septicaemia, infective endocarditis
- drug induced e.g. steroid excess
- scurvy
- Cushing's syndrome
- fat embolism
- dysproteinaemia
- vasculitis e.g. polyarteritis nodosa, Henoch Schonlein purpura
