Glomerular disease in SLE
- focal and diffuse glomerulonephritis - associated with subendothelial immune complexes
- membranous glomerulonephritis - probably the result of the reaction of autoantibodies with subepithelial antigens
- focal and diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis have the worst prognosis
- if there is active glomerulonephritis then there is generally high titres of anti-dsDNA antibodies and hypocomplimentaemia
