Duration of use of topicals steroid
- strong (e.g. betamethasone 17-valerate) and very strong topical steroids (e.g. clobetasol propionate) should only be used for short durations to control acute exacerbations of eczema/dermatitis
- if long-term topical steroid therapy is necessary then weak (e.g. hydrocortisone 1%) or moderate (e.g. clobetasone butyrate) topical preparations should be used
