Aetiology of primary short stature
Primary short stature may be caused by:
- skeletal dysplasias
- chromosomal abnormalities
- inborn errors of metabolism
- intrauterine growth retardation, by any aetiology
- miscellaneous syndromes, including the Russell-Silver Rubenstein-Taybi and Aarsog's syndromes
- some texts consider genetic short stature as an aetiology here
