Reducing the impact of falls

The use of hip protectors should be considered in patients with a significant risk of falling.

• consists of plastic shields or foam pads fitted in pockets with specially designed underwear
• a reduction of femoral neck fracture by around 30% were reported with consistent hip protection use
• unfortunately many people find them uncomfortable and stop using them (1)
