Eye (anaerobic glycolysis)
Capillaries and mitochondria would refract light in the optical path to retina and as such the cornea and lens are relatively devoid of these structures. Hence, both cornea and lens rely heavily on anaerobic metabolism with glucose substrate reaching them by diffusion.
The pentose phosphate pathway is also used for energy production.
