Glycolysis has a biosynthetic role in so much as various products can be utilized by further pathways e.g.:
- glucose-6-phosphate:
- glycogenesis
- pentose phosphate pathway
- pyruvate:
- fatty acid synthesis
- ketogenesis
- steroid synthesis
- tricarboxylic acid cycle oxidation
