Galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase

Galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase catalyzes the conversion of galactose-1-phosphate into UDP-galactose. UDP-glucose is required for the reaction and glucose-1-phosphate is produced.

A deficiency in this enzyme can lead to galactosaemia.
