Prognosis
The most important prognostic factor for renal adenocarcinoma is the extent of tumour invasion at the time of diagnosis:

confined to kidney | 75% |
invading perirenal fat | 50% |
involving regional lymph nodes or renal vein or IVC | 35% |
distant metastases | 10% |
About half of those who have curative resection for earlier stages of the disease also go on to develop advanced and/or metastatic disease (1).
