The management is dependent on the degree of hypoglycaemia. Note that BM stix measurements, although fairly accurate, are not sufficient to indicate a major intervention like intravenous dextrose. The evidence must be backed up with a laboratory glucose.

Most units have their own guidelines for management of neonatal hypoglycaemia; the guidelines below are an example.
