- very gently wrap patient in a Space Blanket - do not use hot water bottles - offer hot drinks - arrange immediate admission - in cardiac arrest, continue resuscitation for at least forty minutes

Indications for starting cardiopulmonary resuscitation:

- no carotid pulse for at least a minute - cardiac arrest is observed or there is a reasonable chance it has occurred in the last two hours - there is a reasonable chance that effective CPR can be continued until in hospital without significant interruptions
