Severe hypothermia

Severe hypothermia is treated with:

  • warm humidified oxygen - 42 to 46øC
  • warm i.v. fluids - 43øC
  • peritoneal lavage with warmed fluids - 43øC
  • arrest - open chest massage with mediastinal irrigation or femoral-femoral bypass

The prognosis is more guarded.
