Follow-up
Annual review is usually indicated and may include:
- careful clinical examination - especially neck palpation
- chest x-ray and other imaging techniques - e.g. radioiodine scans, ultrasound, CT, MRI
- TSH and serum T4 levels - to assess thyroid suppression following radioiodine ablation
- measurement of tumour markers such as thyroglobulin, calcitonin, carcinoembryonic antigen
