  • stress fractures - may resemble a Looser's zone
  • fibrogenesis imperfecta ossium - a rare acquired disease of middle age characterised by defective bone collagen
  • drugs / poisons - for example, chronic fluoride ingestion, chronic etidronate overdose, aluminium toxicity
