Management
Mild cases of PHHI may be treated by a continual supply of carbohydrate-rich food. If hypoglycaemia continues drugs such as diazoxide and somatostatin may be beneficial.
Severe cases are best treated by a subtotal (95%) pancreatectomy.
Typically the excised pancreas has the histological appearances of nesidioblastosis.
