Rickets can be thought of as including the following types:

  • vitamin D deficiency
  • renal osteodystrophy
  • vitamin D dependent rickets, types I and II
  • hypophosphataemic rickets
  • Fanconi's syndrome - not strictly a type of rickets, but an important subset in the causes
