Aetiology
Causes include:
- constitutional tall stature - ie tall parents
- true precocious puberty
- some chromosomal abnormalities - XXY, XYY
- endocrine disease:
- thyrotoxicosis
- congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- gonadal secreting tumours
- hydrocephalus
- Marfan syndrome
- Homocystinuria
- Sotos's syndrome
- Beckwith syndrome
- Weaver's syndrome
