Clinical features of nasal origin

Specific features include:

• pain in the cheek - this is frequently referred to the region of the frontal sinus, temporal region or upper teeth
• tenderness over the cheek
• oedema of the the cheek - rare; usually in children

General features include:

• malaise
• pyrexia

Sinus x-ray may show a fluid level in the maxillary antrum.
