Authoring team

Clinical tests to help detect hearing loss in glue ear include:

  • Rinne test: will show a 20dB deficit, but is difficult in children less than 6
  • whispered voice at arms length will show about a 30dB deficit. To mask the whisper being picked up by the ear not being tested, the examiner should vibrate a finger in the ear not being screened
