Vagal nuclei
There are four key nuclei which supply the vagus nerve:
- nucleus of tractus solitarius: special visceral sensory and general visceral sensory fibres
- sensory nucleus of trigeminal nerve: general somatic sensory
- nucleus ambiguus: branchial motor fibres
- dorsal motor nucleus of vagus: general visceral motor
