Differenital diagnoses include other causes of acute stridor such as (1):
- acute epiglottitis
- foreign body
- bacterial tracheitis
- angioneurotic oedema
- diphtheria
- peritonsillar abscess
- retropharyngeal abscess
- smoke inhalation
- acute laryngeal fracture
- burns / thermal injury
