In any dental trauma, staunch any haemorrhage with sterile gauze:

  • treat shock or fracture of jaw as necessary
  • possibly reimplant subluxed or knocked out teeth
  • splint loose teeth with foil (eg milk bottle tops)
  • give appropriate analgesia
  • give antibiotics if pulp exposed or tooth subluxed or knocked out
