Criteria for admission
Admission to hospital may be necessary due to:
- signs of severe airway obstruction (indicated by intercostal recession or use of accessory neck and abdominal muscles)
- cyanosis
- dehydration
- exhaustion
- doubt about diagnosis
- increasing dyspnoea
- social circumstances
