  • worsening heart failure in 23 patients, compared to 4 in the group continuing with digoxin (p<0.001)

  • a relative risk of worsening heart failure of 5.9 vs. the digoxin group

  • a reduction in maximal exercise tolerance (p=0.01)

  • a lower quality of life (p=0.04)

  • decreased ejection fraction (p=0.001)

  • increased heart rate (p=0.001)
