Syringoma has the following epidemiological features:

  • it is relatively rare in the general population but there have been cases of familial clustering
  • affects women more commonly than men
  • tends to arise in puberty but in eruptive syringoma, multiple lesions may arise before the age of ten
  • associated with Down's Syndrome
