Clinical features
The individual who has ingested corrosives will show the following sequence of symptoms and signs:
- pain in the chest, mouth and pharynx
- odynophagia and dysphagia
- epigastric pain and vomiting
On examination, the anxious individual may show oral mucosal damage, excessive salivation and shock.
