Cholecystokinin
Cholecystokinin is a gastrointestinal hormone secreted by the duodenum following a lipid-rich meal.
Functions:
- stimulates secretion of pancreatic enzymes
- stimulates gallbladder contraction
- relaxes sphincter of Oddi
- inhibits gastric emptying
- stimulates small bowel motility
- enhances secretin stimulation of pancreatic bicarbonate secretion
Its release is inhibited by bile acids.
