Femoral ring (anatomy)

The femoral ring is the medial compartment of the femoral canal in the lower abdomen. Its boundaries are:

  • anteriorly: inguinal ligament
  • medially: lacunar ligament
  • laterally: medial border of femoral vein
  • posteriorly: pectineal ligament and pectineus muscle

The contents of the femoral ring are Cloquet's node and lymphatics.

The femoral ring is the main site for a femoral hernia.
