Glutathione peroxidase
Glutathione peroxidase is an intracellular enzyme that converts hydroxyl radicals or hydrogen peroxide into water. In tandem, reduced glutathione is oxidized.
It requires selenium as a co-factor.
It is one physiological means of reducing free radical formation.
