The typical hepatitic picture on liver function tests consists of:

  • elevation of the aminotransferases out of proportion to the alkaline phosphatase
  • conjugated hyperbilirubinaemia
  • prolongation of the prothrombin time which is resistant to correction with parenteral vitamin K
