Oesophagitis (candidial)

Authoring team

Candida albicans oesophagitis is not uncommon.

Most commonly it is a secondary infection. Patients who are immune-suppressed or on wide-spectrum antibiotics have a much higher chance of being infected.

This condition may be treated with fluconazole.
