Results of 10 yr surveillance for Barrett's oesophagus

In this trial 409 patients were diagnosed with Barrett's oesophagus during 1984-1994.

143 were considered appropriate for entry into an annual endoscopic surveillance program. Entry criteria were:

  • aged less than 70 yr
  • no serious co-morbidity

Average period of surveillance was 4.4 yr.
