Small bowel obstruction
Small bowel obstruction is primarily characterised by the early onset of vomiting followed by constipation. It is commonly due to mechanical obstruction, intrinsic or extrinsic lesions. It may be partial or complete.
Small bowel obstruction can also result from paralysis of the intestinal musculature - paralytic ileus.
