Differential diagnosis
Spider naevi must be differentiated from:
- Campbell de Morgan spots - which do not blanch on pressure
- venous stars - typically, larger than spider naevi; may occur on the feet and legs; and do not obliterate on pressure
- hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia
