Any of the following route may be used for analgesia:
- inhaled, e.g. Entonox
- sublingual, e.g. buprenorphine
- conjunctival
- transdermal
- oral, e.g. NSAIDs, paracetamol
- rectal
- subcutaneous
- intramuscular, e.g. morphine
- intravenous, e.g. opioids
- epidural, e.g. opioids, local anaesthetics
- subarachnoid
