Doctor 2 is primarily concerned with the circulation. His / her functions include:

  • securing two large gauge intravenous lines
  • assessing shock
  • commencing fluid resuscitation
  • obtaining blood for cross-matching
  • controlling external haemorrhage
  • ensuring cardiac monitor is in place
  • obtaining blood gases
  • setting up blood warming apparatus

Doctor 3 carries greater responsibility for life-threatening bleeding.
