Contra-indications
Absolute:
- allergy to local anaesthesia
- severe anaemia
- methaemoglobinaemia (congenital or acquired)
Relative:
- epilepsy
- impaired cardiac conduction or respiratory function
- liver or kidney damage
- sickle cell disease
